Developing Self Esteem Using Simple and Effective Affirmations

If you want to become a positive and self reliant person, then developing self esteem using affirmation is a great way to go.

The reason I make that statement is because by using positive affirmations, you will have the power to alter your internal dialogue ad also change the pattern in which you think. That makes you wonder why most people don’t use this method of developing self esteem. The only reason I can think of is that there is very little awareness to the fact that great results can be achieved using their own positive affirmations.

Fortunately, there is an easy set of techniques which you can use to create positive affirmations which are simple, yet affective. This article will guide you step by step, in developing self esteem using your own self esteem affirmations.

Steps to Developing Self Esteem

First, Define Your Standards

The first step in developing self esteem is to define your standards. You need to think of a person who you consider as a person who has high self esteem. Then defining that person’s self esteem as your standard, and his actions as your example, you’re going to build your positive affirmations. The reason being that your brain needs to have an idea of what being confident looks like before you can tell it that you are going to become confident and developing self esteem.

You need to come up with a list of actions that you consider are of a confident person. These actions should be as specific  as possible and represent high self esteem as they are going to act as directions to your subconscious mind (which you want to influence with self esteem affirmations)on your way to developing self esteem. These actions can be anything like public speaking, debating, talking to people of the different gender or just making new friends.

Second, The Formula of Positive Affirmations

When creating self esteem affirmations for developing self esteem, you only need to keep in mind four basic rules: their nature should be affirmative (refrain from using words like: no, won’t, couldn’t, shouldn’t); they should be in present tense; they must be in first person; they need to be based on actions (the actions in the list you created in step one). Example:

“I’m a confident and charismatic public speaker”

“I’m a master at making people believe in my opinions”

“I meet strangers and start a good relationship”

All of these affirmations have the same things in common:

They are all affirmative in nature

They are all in present tense

They are all in first person

They are all based on actions

When you have your positive affirmations decided based on different actions, you are ready to move to the last step in developing self esteem.

Third, Rehearse Your Affirmations

Using the method of self esteem affirmations for developing self esteem is somewhat similar to working out in the gym. The difference being that affirmations train your mind while working out in the gym trains your body. As you may already know, if body training is no longer done on a regular basis, your body starts to get weak and your previous work is undone. The same rule applies for mind training. If not done on a regular basis, your previous work gets undone. So the practice of developing self esteem affirmations everyday is a necessity. Make it your routine to say out loud your affirmations in the morning and evening. If you get bored with them, just write new ones. So follow these steps and soon confidence will become a natural part of you.
